Remember the time when u thought nobody understood you. That u were the only one with Grand ideas and everyone else was just a follower. Life was tough then wasn’t it?
Then u happened to meet a bunch of people who shared the same ideas, and suddenly fighting the world and everyone and his dog didnt seem so taxing anymore.
Well with this is the album in which Eddie Vedder actually finds out that he has a band.
This album is a release for both vedder and the listeners, its brilliant because of the member’s contributions, Vedder sounds more comfortable and not under pressure to carry pearl jam.
Most consider them the bands and I mean the BAND’S first album since VS. Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament come up with some beautiful numbers and lyrically its vast and expansive.
Breakerfall sounds like a truly fresh rocker , something PJ had been missing for a while.
Off the girl, nothing as it seems are brilliant, finely textured, musically fine and lyricaly beautiful , this is pearl jam where they belong.
There’s a songs about Bill Gates, the Seattle riots , Columbine , the American elections and of course vedders total disregard for anything popular. But unlike other pearl jam albums angst is not the central theme here. It’s just beautiful and full of hope.
Parting ways is an example of a very soothing and musically brillaint song with vedders imagery thrown all over it. That song pretty much sums up the entire album.
Introduce ur girlfriend to this one, make ur parents read the lyrics, ask ur teenage friends to take up a cause based on this listen , its really that wide, really that informative , really that emotional.
