Bioshock is a first person shooter video game. It was launched back in 2007. The game is set in 1960, in which the protagonist jack, survives his plane crashing into the ocean near a submarine terminus that leads to the underwater city called rapture. This underwater city was meant to be a secret but unfortunately for the residents, the discovery of a substance called ADAM, which grants superhuman powers, led to violence and finally the destruction of this underwater utopia. Your mission as the protagonist Jack is to escape from this underwater city using any means possible to overcome the city’s residents and other mutant beings.
We have to collect a variety of weapons and plasmids as we work our way through the game. The player has a health meter that decreases when they take damage. The player can restore their health with medical packs found throughout Rapture. The game provides several options for players to face challenges. In addition to direct combat, the player can use plasmids to lure enemies into traps or to turn enemies against each other, or employ stealth tactics to avoid detection by hostiles, including the security systems and turrets.
BioShock, I felt is much, much more than a simple, first person shooter. The action is fine, but the primary focus of the game is its story. It is a sci-fi mystery that manages to feel retro and futuristic at the same time. All of it blends together to form a rich, interesting world that sucks you in right away and wont let go until youve figured out what, exactly, is going on in the undersea city of Rapture.
The soundtracks is simply great and 1950s era music that plays in the background is terrific and helps to create a creepy, uncertain atmosphere. The voice acting really brings the story together and helps give it all an emotional impact that most games lack. The game does have its flaws. Sometimes when playing the game, I was experiencing audio stutter and dialogue not being synced properly. Also I found the combat sequences very easy. I mean, even the bosses also are not that difficult. A novice can play this game without any difficulty.
If youre the kind of player who just wants yet another action-packed shooter, BioShock probably isnt for you. But if you want to get a little fancy, theres a lot of fun to be had with some of the games more indirect fighting methods. It builds an amazing atmosphere by using terrific graphics and as I said, haunting background music and sounds to set a creepy mood.It would be a crime to give this game anything less than 5 stars.
