I have not had a good experience with birdy’s so far....well...food is good, no doubt...but what shall I say of their service? I love the cakes, puffs, and deserts at Birdy’s....but every time I call them for home delivery....they are a nightmare.....due to this very reason I have shifted my loyalties towards other outlets, who at least provide good home service..... a couple of years back when I was expecting my first child...i happened to visit Birdy’s outlet in Powai for deliver of a half kg cake for my hubby on his birthday...
I was nine months pregnant and not in a condition to collect the cake myself ...so I told them to deliver at home. I was told that I would have to pay extra for Autorikshaw fare (though I stay in powai only and they claimed to be offering free home deliver). I resented but agreed, thinking that a mere 20 bucks wont make much difference to me. later I was told that I would have to pay 10 bucks more if I wanted the cake to carry any message....well what is a birthday cake without the words- Happy Birthday Hubby!...so I paid that amount.....
The cake was to be delivered at 12sh in the afternoon....after repeated calls to their outlet I finally received the cake at 5 in the evening....the delivery boy asked me to pay Rs70 for rikshaw fare....i told him that I visit the market frequently and it never costs more than 20 bucks (to and fro fare)...he said but why would I lie to u...it is costing 35 bucks one side.....after much arguement I oaid hima good 50 bucks.... next to my surprise when I opened the cake I found thgat it was plain blank...did not contain any message....by that time it was already 6....i called up the outlet but only met with rude behaviour from the staff...next I tried calling up their corporate office...but met with the same bahaviour........... however........i recently made another call to Birdy’s .......burying the past behind and moving on.....much to my amazement even after placing an order for a two kg cake at night (again for my hubby’s bday).....i was informed the next day that my order could not be executed because their bakery had closed by the time I called up. I told them if the staff had informed me at night at least I would have been able to make alternate arrangements...... I was also informed that they would be charging extra for provideng home delivery (whatever happened to Free Home Delivery)......... I have reached only one conclusion after this that whatever happens ...the outlet will continue being haunted by ghosts (there is generally not a soul whenever we go to their outlets) till the time they do not improve their service......
