Bisleri was bought by Parle group in 1969 from an Italian company called Felice Bisleri who were unable to market it successfully then. Parle took over control and man, has it done a great job or what !! From being a relatively unknown brand in the 70s to being the real giant revenue generating mega brand, it has been a phenomenal rise for this mineral water product.
But seriously, leaving behind all the glories and the laurels the brand has achieved, it is essentially a plain bottle of water ! You can hardly distinguish a Bisleri from an Aquafina or some local Ganga-chhaap mineral water. I would be surprised if anyone of you disagrees with me in that !
Hats off to the marketing department of Parle group ! This is no mean achievement and carving out a niche for itself for a product which is colorless, tasteless and is abundant in nature is something quite incredible. The geniuses who pushed on with this brand and the well thought out advertising campaigns surely qualifies this achievement as a case study for B-school students in brand building and marketing.
