Long time back when I started photography, it use to be like woh ! Its full of life, I can capture moments and perhaps the way colours use to come out and communicate. Whenever I went to exhibitions or talked to some photographer I always use to question, as a novice, why do you do black and white photography? why do you have to make this world black and white ? Though never got any consistent reply I was still not clear about this concept of black and white photography, anyways things kept moving and so did I, improved my skills got more deeper into this exciting world.
Recently I shifted to pune, as usual first thing I did was to go out and start capturing pune I don?t know what it struck in my mind that I thought of doing black and white this time, And till the last moment I was not sure of whether I should be doing this or not. But some how I took the big step and went on with black and white film.
Now believe me all my queries and all my questions were answered when I saw those images, these pictures actually had depth in them, they wanted the viewer to stop and think about them. I think colour images communicate more but then they also distract the eye a bit, black and white images just have grey scale, which lets viewer to look more for the objects, textures and thoughts.
Black and white images also portray soothing effect for the eyes as only two colour channels are displayed.
Guess what, I was so much impressed by the result that I plan to do only black and white and no more colour, , in future.
There is this festival coming, I think GANESH CHATURTHI, heard its celebrated very nicely in pune, , I plan big for that, and definitely in black and white, ,
