How long can a person survive in blackness....the very first question that was asked in the movie....and the first of many questions that were left unanswered by the movie....BLACK...a movie that has opened a new dimension for our thought flows...breaking the conventional mode of indi cinema...it is without any doubt a brilliant piece of work. I used to wonder..that after DEVDAS.. which is itself a magnificent flick..what is going to be the next venture for SLB films...i was literally dumbstruck when I saw this movie...BLACK portrays an entirely new world....new horizon...and the fact that nothing is inpossible in the world....One basic rule of success is to ’’never make excuses for ur failure’’..and it is quite beautifully portrayed in this movie. The realtionship between darkness and light....feel and meanings...thirst and thirst quencher...mind and soul....are all depicted in this beautiful movie. It was very much possible for SANJAY LEELA BHANSALI to have made this movie in a way that told the story of a deaf-blind girl....despising life....and shaping up the movie as some black dreary tale..that in the end would make us have pity at michelle...and all those other deaf and blindz.. BUT the beauty of the movie is that after watching this movie...the audience doesn’t pity michelle..but rather feels PROUD at her...and at the spirit of her teacher who rendered his services without even any salary!!! The movie is quite a lot inspired by the real tale of HELEN KELLER and her teacher ANNE SULLIVAN....who we all know about . Sanjay L Bhansali has indeed done a more than remarkable job..by having his thoughts put on camera in such a way that makes us all gasp in wonder....He actually made rani mukherjee learn the sign language for 6 months prior to the actual shooting..so that she could portray the character of michelle in essence...He has taken the indi cinema not just 1 step...but a 100 steps forward...by breaking the glass of ice...and making such a decent and xtravagant movie all at the same time in an era where movies like JISM n ZEHER n JULIE n the like were destroying our beloved indi cinema and giving it a horrible shape by having such meaningless scripts and utter vulgarity....... In the end would only say...that if till now u havent checked it out..then go ahead and have an XPERIENCE OF A LIFE TIME!!!!!!
