Being a brother of a blind sister, I can understand the emotions involved better than the general mass.
The agony of having such a person in your life, then the methodology, the blocked cruel outside world who do jokes on being helpless by sight.
I went through many reviews before going to see Black...most of you here recommended it. Thanks for the recommendations. I dont watch hindi movies usually kudos their falling quality. Each and every recommendation to this movie is a matter for thanks! I thank every ones each fraction of their stars for Black.
Black is among the best movies I have come across. Its the sense of achievement and really the words fall short to appraise the movie.
-Why to watch Black:
1) Best Indian Movie I have seen so far and among the world all time classics.
2) From acting to every technical front the movie is a treat.
3) IT CANt BE SAID AS A RIP-OFF of The Miracle Worker. Its better than Miracle Worker.
4) The depth of sceens and the emotions involved. None of the movie has undergone such an emotional depth. Its almost of spiritual kind. I must say that Sanjay leela Bhansali has got a good level of spirituality and intellectualism to reach such an in depth.
5) Amitabh Bachchan: Though Rani Mukheri and everybody have done brilliant performance, they were given a particular shade of role. But Amitabh Bachchan has played multiple dimensions, which leaves you in range of shuttles of all human emotions...
-Rigidity( when he feels he is a magician, sceens with the kid and her family)
-Mellow( when the little girl first time communiacted and comes to her teacher. Amitabh tells her I am your Teacher.)
-Dutiful: His continuous invlovement in with the blind girl till the level of soul.
Humor: Mrs. Mathur, Mr. Kotwal, the sceen of getting late.
Most memorable kiss sceen
not romance but say Love. A true lover.
The old man who is worse than a kid when he gets Alzheimers patient. Believe me, the Alzheimers effects he shown is a gret pieace of art. He captured it so perfectly.
Some people felt its much waving, but AD is a neuro degenerative disease where motor cell impairments happen and exactly the same movement happens. Its a terrific portrayal of the patient.
- he has redifined the art of acting with his eyes and expressions. He commands the way none else can.
6) The blind characters: Rani Mukherji and the child artists have done something which the contemprory generation craves to achieve. Blindness itself is such a big handicap...you imagine the suffocation when all source of communicatin is closed for you. Thereafter the real beauty of life comes. And the director has captured that beauty which stays in being without eyes, in being Black.
7) The direction and technicalities: he has really entered that region of emotion which you feel for a new born baby, which is so pure. Black is a pure work. Every sceen you will find yourself getting involved in the running two hours.
8) The level of details and descriptions.
Words against the few mindless critics:
And here I would like to say few words to the critics( perhaps only two peoples..Amrita and Sainath) that please do justice to your review. Your words were so harsh, that peoples after watching black may feel Black about your souls. Now after watching Black, I really feel bad for your reviews. Black is such a honest work which is meant to be appreciated.
Are christains not Indian? Why always take Hindu names? Were not the main protagonist Debraj Sahay, Mrs Mathur, the Lal sons in background etc Hindu Names? our identity has more to do with the political boundaries which define the religions and natinality more louder than the fact that first and last we are human?! Thank god he took Michelle only..if would have taken, Zhou lin, you would have pelted stone Mr. SaiNath and Amrita! Why not you feel same for Muslim names in your films?
People like you are drilling the beautiful world with a backward mentality. This is the reason why the slave mentality is still alive in us when you put such logics while writing off and claiming its a rip-off of a western movie! Anyway these critics belong to the very same class who says, in bollywood only Sex and Songs sell, they are the people who are happy with movies like Jism, Murder, Hawas, Devdas etc, all sceen by sceen rip-offs and horrible performances!
Those who have seen Miracle Worker know it very well that Black is an original work. In logics The Mircale Worker was a rip-off from the novel of Helen Keller. Art of writing was copied into the cinema! God father was a copy of novel, and all movies are simply the copy of lives we live and stay in.
The human life is similar in all situation and if I go by your definition, we simply copy each other! So please do mature postings here. Novelty comes with the depiction, the level you feel it.
And Sanjay Leela Bhansali felt the emotions better than Arthur Penn...this is clear after watching the movie. Anyway Black differs in many ways by : discussing sexuality, love, sibling rivelry, Alzheimers, and role reversal and great way dipiction of Teacher Student relation.
By writing such statements in critics you simply abuse the spastics. Because according to you, every spastic is trying to copy the life of Hellen Keller and Arthur Penns work.
I recommend Black 200% to every Indian and every movie goer. Every single scene is worth to watch carefully. Its a chance to feel the purity which your heart could have. I promise you will feel elated after watching this movie.
