Quintessential Amitabh

Hi All,

I am sure you agree with me that Amitabh has shown yet again that he is actor material and not just star material. How else can you explain the look he has sported in the movie ’Black’. His grey beard, monkey cap and scarf give him a distinct look and everyone can only remember Sahay of ’Black’ and not the ’Amitabh of ’Black’. Such is his involvement in the movie.

The movie itself is a great attempt at portraying the great human endeavour. A deaf-dumb and a blind girl leading a life of dignity is truly inspirational. Rani’s acting and Sanjay Leela Bansali’s direction make up for an absorbing fare.

The support cast too has done a fabulous job. The acting of Rani’s mother who always wishes good for her handicapped daughter, the subtleties of the relationship of her sister who is normal and the softening of Rani’s father’s stance over the course of the film are all well captured. The music is above average and don’t miss the rain song where Rani has given a great performance along with Amitabh. The Alzheimer stricken Amitabh is something that you cannot miss too.

The canvas is large, the characters are real and the movie is a must-see for all film buffs.
