Overpriced!

Blackberry has been vastly affected in market share and providing good smartphone experience, since the market is dominated by iOS and Android few did cared to take a look at blackberry. The Priv is the company’s first Android phone and it is a flagship,  but is it worthy of spending a whopping 50, 000 on sort-of a newly renovated brand with an experiment.

Well the answer lies in the phone itself,  let’s talk about why this phone costs this much.

Firstly the hardware which is the most important part of flagship,  the Priv has a snapdragon 808 processor which is not the best one in the market. It has got 3GB Ram which is enough for the current demands. Also the rear camera on the phone is pretty decent,  with 18MP sensor with OIS and a mediocre 2MP front facing camera . The phone packs a non removable 3410MAh battery which is just sufficient for a full day use.

The Blackberry Priv has a unique design though,  with a typical blackberry flavour since there is a hidden hardware keyboard which you can access by sliding the screen upwards. The keyboard doubles up as a track pad.

Security is the primary concern when it comes to Blackberry and this phone does perform well in that aspect. You have android lollipop with a few blackberry tweaks,  the blackberry hub is there. Also there are a lot of customization options in the settings menu.

Let’s now give a final verdict. The Priv is an awesome Blackberry  phone but it’s NOT THAT AWESOME that you may spend 50k on it.

Does the phone doesn’t keeps up to the competition?  Actually no. If it had been launched a year ago then it would be a great buy but it is simply lacking in performance and technology when the current smartphone industry is way ahead. For instance you can a Note 5 for a cheaper price with Better screen,  better camera,  better battery,  better performance among others. So I would say only to go for the Priv if you are a die hard fan of blackberry and if want a flagship android experience then you’ve got other better options.
