A must watch movie

Blade Runner 2049, directed by Denis Villeneuve is a sequel to 1982, Ridley Scott directed, Sci-fi classic Blade Runner. Its not surprising that hopes would be high for the sequel to Blade Runner, especially when it is directed by Denis Villeneuve, who brought to us Arrival, another great sci-fi movie, the previous year. And the movie actually lived up to its hype and also delivered a lot more. The movie was an actual feast, both technically and artistically. This an instant classic sequel to its already classic predecessor. Its continues the original storyline and delves deeper into the themes and concepts put forth by Blade Runner, which was made based on the book “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep”, by Philip K Dick. This movie arises questions based on identity, love, conflicts between different coexisting species’, memories and how it affects us. Another interesting aspect is thinking that almost all of the human characters do not move at all from their location, like they’re confined by some invisible boundaries, be it the police chief who doesn’t go out of the headquarters, or Jared Leto’s Niander Wallace, who never comes out of his temple. They’re all kind of living in a cage they’ve made for themselves. The technical aspects of the movie are one of the best I’ve seen. The cinematography by Roger Deakins, is in my opinion an oscar worthy work. Deakins built massive rigs for lighting the sets, according to the lighting required for each shot. The music by Hans Zimmer and Benjamin Wallfisch was also great and in sync with the mood of each shot. The editing by Joe Walker was also great. The visual effects in the movie are awesome, the CGI work in the movie is one of the best ever. In my opinion, this movie have got the best CGI human character ever, the recreation of the character named Rachael, played by Sean Young in the predecessor, was so perfect. Blade Runner 2049 is undoubtedly, my favourite movie of 2017.
