"More human than human"

Blade Runner(1982) stars Harrison Ford, Sean Young, Rutger Hauer and it follows the story of a Blade Runner(Harrison Ford) who is tasked to terminate four replicant’s that have escaped an off-world colony and made their way to earth to find their creator. At first viewing I honestly didn’t like Blade Runner much but on second viewing I completely understood the film and now I can say its a great film. The best part of the film is the dystopian Los Angeles which looks amazing and feels very realistic and believable. The futuristic world setting in Blade Runner created by director Ridley Scott(Gladiator, The Martian) has inspired many modern sci-fi entertainment. The problem I had with Blade runner was that it was slow and there wasn’t any action scenes which I did expect. But the movie doesn’t want to be an action thriller which might upset people and it’ll probably make them dislike Blade Runner. Where the movie shines is the well written dialogue and the performances by Harrison Ford and Rutger Hauer. Harrison Ford’s Deckard was a realistic character instead of being the typical hero from an action film. What I mean by that is that he isn’t perfect, he’s not always on top of things. Actually he’s barely ever depicted as the all powerful invulnerable hero. Rutger Hauer’s Roy Batty is a great villain, his motivations are well realized and we understand his point of view. The fact that all these replicant’s don’t want to be slaves and just want to be free makes their characters real. The film looks beautiful and the performances are great and the story is great but its not a perfect movie. It did get boring at times and I didn’t really care about Deckard’s and Rachel’s romance. So the final verdict is that Blade Runner is a great film with incredible visuals and great acting and I would recommend you check film out. I give Blade Runner a 4/5 stars
