Ruskin bond, the pioneer of children literature, has truely ruled every child’s childhood. The writings epitomise thousand humane emotions; joy, jealousy, sorrow and love. The creativity, vivid descriptions, excellent storytelling, simplified yet elegant English makes it easier to understand and imagine things with eyes open.
Among all his writings, the one that I found to be heart touching was-
THE BLUE UMBRELLA. The genuine simplicity of the character of a girl by the name Binya set in a typical Indian village has touched my heart. His gentle understanding of Indian realities in all bits and pieces where ordinary characters become heroic enthralls his readers.
The metaphorical description of magnificent, beautiful, and yet-pleasing blue colored umbrella undoubtedly brews the perfect stage for a subtle mesmerizing tale. So I found this book to be the best of all. The famous line from the book that I liked the most was-The umbrella was like a flower, a great blue flower that had sprung up on the dry brown hillside.
