I am a Banker by profession and had purchased the Bluestar 1.5 Ton A/C in February 2009 on the recommendation of my AC technician(JAWAHAR AIR CONDITIONERS, GHATKOPAR EAST) thinking of the quality expected with a good brand name. By the end of first year, the AC started giving us some problems or the other. First the remote stopped functioning.
When I contacted the Blue Star Service Department, they deputed a technician who said that the AC Remote is not under warranty and one has to either purchase a new one or get the same repaired. I left the option to the technician to do what he thought was best suitable for us. He repaired the remote and that worked for another 6-8 months. Subsequently, we were using the AC manually.
Then the cooling coils gave big problem and with the gas leak and extensive damages, we had to go in for replacement of cooling coils costing us somewhere around Rs.4000/- to Rs.6000/-. Lately, I had to again call the AC Technician because there was a water seepage inside the room and he told me that there was a lot of dirt on the AC tray which blocked the seepage of water.
Poured about one and a half litre water into the tray to wash out the dirt. Eventually, when he switched on the AC, the compressor conked off. Now the option with me is either replace the compressor and risk replacement of other damages on and off or just go ahead and buy a new AC. I would advise buyers not to go blindly with the Brand name like we did expecting very good service and long life. It all depends on your fate and the machine quality. I have a 1 ton Onida Split AC and touch wood it has never given us a problem.
