745i... not for technically challenged

Well what can I say abt the 745. I have owned it for the last 6 months. already done close to 10, 000 miles. when I purchased it, it was 19, 000 miles done. yes I bot it used. the person who sold it cd not afford the payments on this coz he got it custom made and cost him a PACKET. he ordered it with pretty much everything except smartaccess (where u need keys in the proximity of the car to start/open). wonder why he didnt -- coz it costs just $750.00 extra as compared to luxury seating, adaptive ride, logic 7, tire pressure monitor etc. it comes with complete warranty, except tires (tyres) and battery till 2008 may or 100, 000 miles whichever comes first. complete warranty means complete -- on a 7 series even wiper blades and brake pads are free. if u r not good with gadgets then dont buy 745. this is not for technically challenged. buy an S 500 in that case. the i-drive, which is a pain for some, is an absolute marvel. this is ’’confusing’’ for most. it was for me too but once u get the hang of it -- its amazing. it accepts voice commands and has in-built phone (which I dont use). the hand rest in the middle has a cooler and it keeps drinks and other stuff pretty cold. 745 is so so much different from 740 and so so similar to the new 750. it goes from 0 to 60 miles in 5.9 seconds. the kickdown mode if used without the involvement of computers (DTC etc) will finish your tires in an hour. it has power which never seems to stop. 325 horses is good. 745 is on the other spectrum of luxury cars -- lexus being on one. I still find it crude as compared to lexus but there are so many toys and 227 computer modules controlling the car makes you feel different. AND YES IT IS VERY SAFE AND HEAVY -- ALMOST 2100 KGS. I get about 18 miles to a gallon on her. I just love it. I have not seen any car like this. I considered ls 430, s 500 along with 745. the lexus wd’ve cost me same except lexus wd’ve been brand new. fyi - my other car is a 325xi (all wheel drive) -- fastest snow mover in the world -- as they call it. I agree...however it drives like a tractor and u can skip gym if you drive it for an hour :).

-----------UPDATED Oct 30 2008-------------------

I still have the 745i with a little over 75000 miles. Its used up another set of tyres ($1700). But it rides the same which is excellent. Engine runs the same if not better. One suggestion with BMWs -- always put premium petrol in them.

This had the 6 yr or 100000 mile warranty on it so I did not have to pay anything from my pocket till now though it has been to the dealer many times.  it needs to go for service/oil change in another 4800 miles and I know it’ll do SOME harm to my pocket. Will update once i’m through.
