The beauty of bombay blue is that its a lovely place to visit with your friends and chill out. Food is not the purpose of the visit. In the event you are hungry and want some real food to fill your stomach than avoid this place like surat during the plague.
The restaurant is bright and sunny during the days and well lit at night. Its always a pleasure to spend hours over here as the place is always full of beautiful young men and woman. Though a trifle noisy at times, you can always drown out the noise with your own. The staff is friendly, all are young and have good bodies and all look like they are working out in the gym when not working here.
The management ke naak par makhi nahi bethti hain. They seem to think that they are doing you a favour by letting you in. Something to do with the corporate motto of having 100s of such restaurants all over india. This is supposed to be their budget product restaurant.
The quality of the food lacks the freshness that every udipi will provide. The problem is that they have a common kitchen at a great distance from the restaurant and food is transported to the premises in the morning and the evening.
There have been many a occasion when I have been there for lunch or dinner spent Rs 250/= per head and yet come back home hungry. The quantity of food they serve in proportion to the prices they charge is awful.I have been there often enough as I live close by to know that many a times the food I order is served cold, or is not as tasty as the first time I ate it. For instance once I ordered Tortilla chips with cheese sauce, the dish was nice and hot and tasty. The next time the sauce was cold the chips had become soggy and the smile on the waiters face was the same, plastic as ever.Dont bother to complain about the food , they will be glad to point out that you are the first to complain about the food and that, that particular dish is very popular with the local clientele.
All in all I admire the group of 14 kitty party aunties who spent close to three hours there gossiping about everything and drumming up a bill of Rs600 and then complaining why they were not served free cold coffee. Way to go baby, I wish we men had the kind of guts it takes to do that.
The general rule is either you take them for a ride or else they will take you for one.
THey serve hot coffee and the drinks they serve are in really large glasses.
So the sum and substance is:
Great interiors.
Great cutlery and crockery.
Polished joint.
Really lousy food at even lousier prices.
Great to be seen frequenting this place, dont spend your money there though. And the neighbouring chinese joint, noodle bar....the less said the better.
How long will the crowds go there....not more than a year max 18 months. After that it will be as full as shatranj napoli, orchid and j49 are today.
