Roads,Garbage, Rains, Floods, Hygiene,

The usual flooding reappears year after year. Our drainage system is more than 80 years old, thats what I had read 5 years ago. What must be the density of population in this city since then. And dont you think something very very substantial should have been done about it ? I have recently moved to kalina, from juhu scheme. The house there was surrounded with lush green and natural beauty, except for one eye sore - A garbage bin !

Now in Kalina, near the University - one side of the road is still being cemented. The other side has huge pot holes and resembles a lunar landscape. Plus there is muck, garbage bin, shops, taxis parked and overflowing gutters on the same side. how is traffic supposed to move ? How is a person to cross the road. Then there is liter lying around for no reason. I would love to help in certain areas to keep the area clean and hygienic but have no way of knowing how to go about it. Maybe the BMC should start a volunteer system or maybe even use smalltime criminals who are serving a short sentences for short projects.
