Hats off to Mumbai Police !

As a mumbai-kar, there are many things we would like to share – things we hate , things we love , things we care for ! and may be ( or should I say mostly) Mumbai Police is in the category , everybody loves to hate !

But here am I to just add few points to make you understand other side of the Coin.

I know there is lot of corruption, favouritism and ya, still nobody works. Everybody wish to earn money. But are we any exceptions ? Everybody is behind money. The one who earns more wish to earn still more and so on.

But our hunger for money is justified , but for Mumbai Police , they are supposed to be exceptions !

Why only mumbai police ? Haven’t we all seen govt. Offices , the way they work ?

Why don’t we see in our own office ? We all get angry / irritated when our coffee machine does not work ! We are even more irritated when lights are gone, printer stops working. What happens , if our Boss promotes our friend instead of us coz he / she is his favourite !

We curse our fortunes when we are paid low, have to work in extremely unhygienic conditions, have to suffer ill-effects of Pollution & heat ( travelling), have to work hard for unreasonably long hours. We get angry when our boss doesn’t sanction our leave.

Now think about Police !

  1. They are getting very low salaries.

  2. Their life is always endangered and there is not enough insurance or other facilities for their families if they die

  3. They have to work in unhygienic conditions. ( Unclean/ no toilets, no fans)

  4. They have to work almost 30-48 hours continuously.

  5. They are not sanctioned leaves in festival seasons, they are supposed to be on duty for our security. ( so when we are enjoying diwali, x’mas with our family, they are away from their families)

  6. They have to perform duties just anywhere, be on guard for any long ! It can be garden, church, hospital, crowded place, traffic jam or just anywhere.

  7. They have to stand in scorching heat for long hours & salute politicians & others.

  8. They don’t have any computerized source of information available like Scotland Yard or US Police, they have to search for every piece.

Despite of the above fact, they are number 2 in the world. They have been greatly admired for their hard-work all around. This is our turn to recognize the same by overlooking few things.

Everybody say there is lot of corruption, even we are part of it ! Won’t we take tickets in black for the movie of our favourite star. Don’t we pay agents thousands for getting a good job. We are the only one who pay these Traffic police, why don’t we ask for challan and pay money. We pay them to save our money & time. As far as chewing tobacco & spitting is concerned, we all do it , we smoke in non-smoking zones also.

Charity begins at home , so does honesty ! First let all of us be honest in what we do & then expect others to do same !

They are humans, they want to enjoy life happily the way we do ! So next time when we curse them just think of their problems, bear a smile on your face and speak nicely ( the way we speak to our friends) and trust me , you will also find smiling & loving face behind their khaki uniform !

See, all 5 fingers are not same, the way we meet bad people , we also meet good ones. Life is all about remembering those good experience ans sharing them, rather than cursing people for not being good at their duties.

Just imagine yourself in their shoes and then you’ll realise how much tough life they are leaving !
