Haltu is the newly developing area of south kolkata.The newest trend of the place is the newly opened Indo-Chinese restaurant by the name of "Bongoan". Owned by one of the localities of the area is a proud owner of this place which I heard praises about from my friends and cousins.
Upon hearing soo much since I was near dhakuria with a friend we thought to eating our dinner out here, this instance took place last nigh. strong textThe weather was really nice and I was in a full mood to eat Chinese .
The moment I entered I got a mouth watering fragrance of freshly fried chicken, well the place had already impressed me by then without even tasting their food.Jokes a side, the ambiance over all is quite simple and sober.
Decorated with sofas at the corner tables and regular chairs in the sides and middle.Since the place was a bit crowded we were asked to sit at the corner table by the manager which turned out to be really good as the sofa was seriously very comfortable.
The steward was kind enough to ask us for the choice of water cold/regular and then he handed over the menu card.Lets talk about the food now.As mentioned above they serve Chinese and Indian cuisine hence the menu was not that exaggerated, simple and short just the way I like it.We ordered for a plate of mutton roganjosh, chicken bhurta, rumali rotis and a plate of jeera rice.The order was taken and placed on our table within 15 minutes.The quality of the rice was really nice and the fragrance was simply amazing.Mutton was tender and juicy but yes a bit on the spicier side and the chicken bharta tasted oily but good at the same time.
strong textOver all my observation on the food quality was good and the quantity was perfect. The bill was around Rs.480 and we tipped the kind waiter Rs.20, they do not add VAT and TAX to their bill( at least till now) but I would definitely recommend this place and for sure i’m going to come back here once again provided I get a chance to visit haltu.
