What a load of crap.
I just finished watching Border five minutes ago, and I am filled with rage - Rage at the kind of crap Bollywood dishes out and expects us to watch.
In a nutshell, the movie is based on the 1971 battle of Longewala - a true story. It’s about how 120 brave Indian soldiers thwarted off the attempts of an entire Tank assisted battalion of the enemy to take over their post.
First of all, this is in NO angle a war movie. Except for explosions and machine gun fire - there is no aspect of war in this movie. It reminded me more of the old Ramayana and Mahabharata TV serials instead of a modern day war movie. Every character has to talk at least for two minutes (after being shot 40 times) before he dies.
There is a scene in the movie where the Pakistani army has stopped just outside the Indian post, and then the unthinkable happens. The commander of the Pakistani army and our own commander (Sunny Deol) start abusing each other. In the middle of the war they are actually close enough to hear each other shout?????
Talking of shouting, a really irritating aspect of the movie was Sunny Deol always screaming. I dont think there is a single dialogue of his in which he isnt screaming his guts off. Bet the poor fellow needed some sore throat medicine after the shooting of the film.
Then there is the scene where Sunil Shetty is actually running after a tank after being shot about 30 times visibly in the chest. Why is tank running away from him in the first place is a mystery??
I feel the movie is an insult to all those soldiers who actually lost their lives in that battle. This was a really infuriating movie, because of the absolute load of crap that Mr. Dutta has dished out to us.
