My relationship with mouthshut is a new one. The whole thing started when I was planning for my weekend and was looking for a budget stay in and around Mumbai.
We went to Bordi in month of august. With we, I mean me and my boyfriend. Luckily the rooms were available in almost al the hotels we enquired in. We preferred to stay in Tapovan Retreat, the one which seemed to have gotten the maximum number of visitor’s recommendation.
How to reach there: unlike the traditional way of catching the Surat shuttle from Borivali, we got into Saurashtra Express at Dadar, which reaches there at about 8:30 am. I still remember taking the last minute general ticket and boarding the train at platform no.6 of western railway(DR). The train was not at all crowded(for a change).
And by 11 am, we were at Gholvad station, the nearest from Bordi. WE took auto to Tapovan. it was about 15-20 minutes journey, we paid Rs 25 for it.
The place: It is a very nice place, good for two and even good for a group. Ensure that you have a restaurant in the hotel; you have got in to, as we had a tough time finding a good restaurant in the place. It is not that there is no place to eat, but it is difficult to find a standalone restaurant.
This was the second beach I was seeing after Juhu, so I quiet surprised to see, the vast expanse of sand and no chowpatty. The waves in the ocean are turbulent but one need to walk a long way, for touching the water.
Two days were enough for us. We spent our first day in the beach, and second day in sight seeing like the Dam.
Though the check out time is 5 pm, we left the place at 3:30 pm, to catch the same Saurashtra Express that comes at 4:10 pm train. We were back in Mumbai at 7 pm, same platform at Dadar.
