FORGOTTEN PAST , HAUNTED PRESENT

Before starting my review I would like to convey my Thanks to Mr. Tanmay who enabled me to watch this movie , by providing me the necessary pass for its First Premier in the World. This movie is   all set to release on 13th of may   but as   Mr. Tanmay has already pointed out that it’s mainly targeting the Class audience , so it may not be able to generate the money which a commercial movie does , so the cinema halls are not taking any risk by releasing this movie , even in Jaipur(my hometown) the movie is not being released in Raj Mandir where it’s premier was held. So , I feel lucky that I got a chance to see this film before along with its stars. So , Again THANKS TANMAY .

This Movie throws   light on the Career of Subash Chandra Bose , the hero who ran the back office   Struggle for the Independence. Although the Title is the Forgotten Hero , but I don’t fully agree with this Title , according to me its not the hero who has been forgotten but it is his Great work towards the nation which has been forgotten. It’s the happenings of the Past which has been forgotten by us. And as we have made   our memory weak in terms of the work done by Netaji , we have also started living in the euphoria We have forgotten the Price which our forefathers had to pay for India’s Independence , that’s why instead of doing some constructive work we have indulged ourselves largely in the areas of corruption , red tapism , beaurocracy , mobocracy , which has led to the Ultimate damage to our nation. We have absolutely no value for our Freedom today. That’s why I have assigned the Title of haunted present where rapes , killings , robbery , terrorism , corruption has become a necessary part in all walks of our life.

THE MOVIE

Although this movie cannot be regarded as the masterpiece of Shyam Benegal , but of course its an absolute worth watching movie . If you are looking for a commercial Masala or a hard hitting jingoist   movie with all necessary DESHBHAKT dialogues , you may get disappointed , there is of one unforgettable one that is TUM MUJHE KHOON DO MAIN TUMHE AAZAADI DOONGA , the famous dialogue of Subhas Chandra Bose . But of course there is not a   stream of dialogues like this , which was there in the movies like LEGEND OF BHAGAT SINGH .

The Music of A.R. Rahmaan is good with the songs like AAZAADI , KADAM KADAM BADAAYE JAA , suiting the various situations of the movie , but instead of making you patriotic or shedding the tears from your eyes it rather gives    an account of   commitment on the part of Netaji for INDIA’s independence and makes you feel proud of him , after getting out from the cinema hall the voice of A.R RAHMAAN echoes in ur mind and heart.

JOURNEY OF NETAJI

The movie   focuses on the last five years of Netaji’s life , from the time where he begun his journey towards building up of his own front , for India’s Independence. All his work was in exile , the movie contains an interesting sequence of Bose’s escape from Calcutta to Peshawar to Kabul. Netaji wanted to seek asylum in SOVIET RUSSIA but because of poor contact and extraordinary vigilance of Soviets he was not able to reach to Moscow , as a result he had to get in touch with Germans and Italians to help him fulfill his target of making   his own front. He had to go to berlin to get his dream fulfilled.

During this patch we see some good performance of   KULBHUSHAN KARBANDA , ILLA ARUN ( the Punjabi couple who helps Netaji to stay safely in Kabul)and RAJPAL YADAV ( who takes the responsibility of helping BOSE to reach Kabul from Peshawar)

MISSION OF SUBHASH CHANDRA BOSE

After he reaches Berlin his all necessary mission gets unfolded , he wanted to make an army of Indian Prisoners of War , who fought for British against the allied forces of Germany , Italy. He gets many of them involved in the war against the british , but his all important meeting with ADOLF HITLER , tells him that he will have to go to Japan which is more nearer to INDIA , to form an ARMY. He gets their through a U-Boat provided by HITLER. There he fulfills his dream of   forming his own Army , from the Indians occupied by the Japanese Army. And there comes the solid acting of Rajeshwari who was made the head of   women’s army. In this part we also get the opportunity to view the film’s most attractive dialogues. There are interesting War scenes and the Famous Battle of Burma , Kohima , Manipur.

TOWARDS THE END

Then comes the end of Bose’s Dream Journey , The British resists his attacks quite formidably , and with the bombardment of Hiroshima , Nagasaki the battle comes to an end from the allied forces. But Bose still refuse to surrender , as well as his forces. After few days the report comes that Netaji has died in a plane Crash , that marks the end of his journey.

Although there are many lacunas in the movie , but you need to appreciate this graet work of SHYAMJI. The movie has revealed many interesting facts regarding the Hitler’s and Japanese differences towards the Indian forces lea by BOSE.

A nice film to enhance the GK , the most interesting part in movie is the numerous discussions in it.

I would recommend to watch this movie for entertainment , but for paying homage to this great personality called SUBHASH CHANDRA BOSE.
