Unreasonable service center - Vasant Vihar

I purchased Bose Wave Music System in 2010. In 3 years, they changed the lens kit citing damage and charged nearly 5000 Rs. I took my system last week for repair and surprisingly received an estimate of more than Rs. 13, 000 to change Lens(yet again), PCB and Tuner Card. It was a jolt to hear that I need to spend more than 1/3rd of the cost of the equipment and nearly change the entire system from inside.


While one genuine CD plays in the system, the other genuine CD does not. According to me the lens cannot be faulty, else it shall not discriminate against the other. At times, the radio becomes noisy but most of the times it plays well. I was told that there was lot of dust inside the music system. I would have believed the engineer if I had myself not opened the system before taking to the service center. Not a speck of dust inside - but his justification was that there was lot of dust inside the lens compartment(by the way, it is sealed like anything). There was no dust outside the lens compartment and it chose to enter only the lens compartment. How illogical can one be to justify charges, which does not seem to be ethical in my perspective.


Nevertheless, I brought back my system with a vow to never purchase Bose equipment. Though I own a couple of more - running trouble-free till now but appears I will get rid of them before there is a need to visit a service centre.
