True to its name, I really was feeling like bashing the bottle at the end of the evening!
we had booked a table at this Gastro pub, through Zomato. Yeah the first thing they ask is this, did you book a table directly or online. Your confirmation of the booking mode, will decide which direction the evening will take a turn. We confirmed through Zomato and the server confirmed, we wont be eligible for the inhouse discount. We accepted and proceeded to place order for dinner and snacks.
Boy oh Boy, were we in for a surprise! Yes and that is a very mild way of putting it.
The drinks came in after an age of wait. Then the starters started making an appearance. The quantity of the started made our eyes wide.literally and we had to relook at each member of the group to confirm, if we turned younger(less than 6 years old) as the portion sizes were of those that one would see on a kids menu and then the eyes started popping as the prices for these measly amount sure were sky high. The evening could get even worse sure was an understatement of the evening.
For the amount the restaurant was minting, the sizes of the dishes they were serving, the least they could have done was to atleast cook it half way decent. The starters / snacks were tasteless starting from the fries.ashamed to call them even fries, the size of each fry was less than half the size of a little finger on the hand. Suddenly I started looking for news if there was further sky high rocketing of prices in potatoes, for the size of the fries sure created this doubt in mind.maybe even rationing of potatoes.world war II anyone?
With the overall experience going quickly south, the group decided to pay the bill and move to another place. when the bill came the eyes not only popped, but literally fell out the sockets, for the measly amount of the food, we had to ration among ourselves, the bill felt like it was not the few of us but all the folks present at that moment there that we were paying for.
Moral of the story - Online table booking sites might seem like godsend, but the decision of how much eat and how much you pay rests in the hands of the restaurant.
If you are looking for a cheesy, shady place and have loads of money you dont care where you blow it or burn it, depending on who you are.you may choose this Bottle Bash and if you aint one of those that are not loaded but careful spenders, yeah you can go and bash the bottles at the end of the evening, if you dont get your money’s worth, atleast you will get the bottle crushing soul satisfying experience.
