Good but expensive place

Hi

I stayed at Hotel Bougainvillea - Grandpa’s Inn for 3 nights during the 3rd week of Jan 2008. Here I have to put something on the record before we get on to Hotel Bougainvillea - "Goa ROCKS".

Now back to Hotel Bougainvillea - the place is a quite lil’ place about 2 - 3 kms from the Anjuna beach(which is not as happening as Baga or Calanguate). Clean, private and serene. But it seems to be more of a place for Foreigners who wanna learn Yoga, (yes they have a yoga centre in the premises) and have health food(a spread of fruits, yogurts  ect etc), not for the partying types. Besides @ 80 bucks for a fruit juice glass its pretty steep on the food front.

But the price is not what bothered me . I prefer having authentic local cuisine where ever I go - india or abroad(being an omnivore and a foodie I cant but eat everything in my way). So when I went to goa I thought I will have some authentic Goan fish curry etc ect . Grandpa’s Inn serves only "european food". In fact most hotels in Goa cater to the foreign tourists and hence its difficult to get authentic goan food(especially near the beaches). You are likely to get lasagna and jacketed potatos than Masoli or zinga curry.

So I usually used to ride off on my rented bike with me better half to hunt for local food and local beer.

Bottom line - Grandpa’s inn is Clean, private and serene but not if you wanna party .
