Hi Friends,
Every person who likes to read spy novels those filled with suspense and mysteries and with international conspiracies and things like that definitely would have read novels of Robert Ludlum and if he hasn?t then I pity such a person and suggest to read one right away. In such a case The Bourne Identity would be a very good one to start from.
And the people who have read novels of Robert Ludlum must be aware of his writing style. Ludlum writes in a fast paced style. His pace is I guess his USP besides he offers such nice and unexpected twists in the stories that you can?t just stop reading his novel once you start it.
Ludlum is also known for his cold war era novels and stories. He is a world renowned author and one of the most successful.
Now let?s come to The Bourne Identity. It is first in the four novel series, The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy, The Bourne Ultimatum and The Bourne Legacy.
Just to tell you the popularity of this novel and its sequels let me tell you that movies have been made on all three sequels except The Bourne Legacy. The recent one being The Bourne Ultimatum being released couple of months I guess starring Matt Damon.
Let?s have a look at the story. It?s the story of a professional assassin Jason Bourne.
Story starts with an accident where some person is being tortured and tormented. Then he is shot and thrown into the sea. He is discovered by some fishermen and they bring him to their island. On that island a drunken doctor treats that man for a long time and he is conscious again after some days of treatment.
When that person wakes up, doctor asks him his name and bingo! The man not even knows his name. He is completely wiped out off memory. But a microchip is found implanted in the man?s right hip. On that chip there is an account number of an account in Zurich.
This man now has only this account number and some of his skills of his past life with him. Our amnesiac man finds out that he knows martial arts and he can use it to kill people, he can dismantle and reassemble weapons like .38 Glock. He finds out that his body is nicely trained but it is not possible that he has any military background. He feels comfortable spying, being a thief and he know more than one language ? fluent French and English. Seems to him that he could have been a spy or something like that.
Now he goes to Zurich to find out his identity. As his fight against destiny starts he finds out that people everywhere are shooting at him, seems like they all want him dead. But why, he not even knows who he is and what has he done. As he keeps on fighting against all odds, escaping death closely at numerous occasions, he uncovers a deep secret which goes deep from the secret files of CIA to a clandestine organization Tread stone 77 to the dark jungles of Cambodia and the war fought by USA against the communists in Cambodia.
What are all these things, I am not going to disclose here, I don?t want to disclose them because I want justice to be done, to all you readers. If you have read the novel you will agree with me that people need to read for themselves because the novel is so damm exciting. If you have not read it I suggest that you go and read it. Start it one a relaxed week end and you might be able to finish it by Friday the same week.
The novel is very exciting, written in a very fast pace, with extraordinary turns. The story goes deep and every time you think that this might be bottom story goes further deep into some dark secret and finally by the time the true identity of our man who has lost his identity is reveled and his relation with Jason Bourne is proved you will feel so damm excited that you will demand the sequel instantly.
Read it and enjoy it, it is a full value for money novel and one of those rare novels which you can add to your collection, Robert Ludlum has a brain that is beyond my comprehension. This man can frame such complex stories and then tell them in such a way that I am spellbound to explain how magnificent I feel his fiction work is.
Recommended.
