Almost equally good as the first one !!

The Story (no plots revealed) - 5/5

_____________________________________________

The protagonist of the movie is living a peaceful life in Goa with his companion Marie. Still plagued by flashbacks from his unknown past, he is unawares that he is accused of killing 2 CIA agents. The pace that the movie picks up from this point only increases throughout as Bourne outwits his pursuers across Europe and Russia and not only manages to stay ahead of them, but also ’brings the fight to their doorstep’ - just as promised in the promos !!

The movie is based on the book by the same name by Robert Ludlum. It is the second part of the Bourne trilogy.

The cast and Performances - 5/5

_____________________________________________

Matt Damon .... Jason Bourne

Matt Damon continues to ROCK as Jason Bourne !! He doesn’t need any more plaudits. Go see the movie to gauge how aptly he brings the character of Jason Bourne alive in the movie.

Franka Potente .... Marie

Franka Potente is believable as Marie, Bourne’s companion. Her presence is like a splash of brightness in Bourne’s stark life.

Brian Cox .... Ward Abbott

Brian Cox is good in his part as crafty Ward Abbott - the ex-boss of Bourne’s dissolved agency (sounds like a flop dot com.... ).

Julia Stiles .... Nicky

Julia Stiles is nice as Nicolette ! It is good to see her in a longer role than in the first film.

Karl Urban .... Kirill

A New Zealander by birth, Karl Urban almost out does Bourne in suaveness when he plays the assassin - Kirill.

Joan Allen .... Pamela Landy

Joan Allen is good in her part as Pamela Landy - CIA team lead (spoken like a s/w engineer for lack of a better description...)

Direction - 3/5

_____________________________________________

Though enjoyed by some, I found the camera work by Paul Greengrass a tad too jarring. I agree that it makes the action scenes a bit more authentic, but it is not required when there is no action going on. This is the only department where the first part (Bourne Identity) scores greatly over the second part.

Action - 5/5

_____________________________________________

The action does not disappoint at all and the chase sequences are done very nicely. If anyone found the first part ’mellow’, this one is ’up there’ in terms of action. Lack of fancy gadgets and nice chase sequences make the movie more enjoyable. Last time it was the ’Mini’, this time it is a cab that provides thrills to the audience.

The verdict - 4/5

_____________________________________________

It is the brilliant use of day-to-day modes of transportation and backdrops such as cabs, trams and subways that make the movie more enjoyable.

In the last movie (read my revu on the Bourne identity), Bourne warned his agency to leave him alone else he would bring the fight to their doorstep if they crossed his path again. The agency makes the mistake of ignoring his statement and the result is a superb movie that captivates the audience with its amazing action and relentless pace !!

Like its prequel, this movie too focuses on Bourne rather than diverting attention to a lot of sub-plots. This focus is what makes the movie more interesting to watch.

A MUST SEE despite the jerky camera work.

!! Spike !!

[Still not read the book :p]

I liked the color scheme and the way the menu drops down. Very ’Spy-ish’ :-)
