I used to go bowling all the time when I was younger and had more time for the game. I even played on a league which was great fun.
At that time it cost only 50 cents to play a game and 25 cents to rent a pair of bowling shoes and you could use their balls free. Eventually I got my own ball that was suited for my finger placement thus making me play a better game.
I also got my own shoes as even though the ones at the alley were sanitised I just felt better with my own pair and of course you will need a bag to carry these in. The only other thing you need is a pencil to keep score as the pads are provided.
The idea of course is to get the highest scores and as many strikes and spares as you can. When you first start you may get more gutter balls than anything else but with practice you will improve.
I am not going to go into great details of the game as I am sure all have bowled at some point in there lives so pretty much know how it works.
The prices have gone up but it is still one of the less expensive forms of entertainment and something you can do as a family. Get the kids involved and let them have some fun. Even with snacks and drinks a fun night for 4 would be no more than 20 bucks in US funds. What else can you do for that price that the whole family will enjoy?
It is also a good form of exercise and burns off some calories if you are into that.
Remember practice makes perfect and who knows you may become really good at it and make some money with it. Here we have a tv show every week featuring top bowlers of the area.
This is regular bowling I am talking about with the large balls. A good weight for a child or woman starting out is 12 pounds.
There is also candlepin bowling but that is played with small balls that have no holes and only 9 pins but it too can be fun.
If you havent been in a long time you just might find you have forgotten how much fun it can be. Hey even if you get gutter balls it is still fun and an inexpensive night out.
