The BPL FYR that I bought was one that had beaten Sony, Philips, Videocon etc to the post for a Veto to get into my home.
At that point of time we had bought 5 TVs, and all the five were BPLs.
To our dismay we found that the sound was pathetic. That was the feeling across all.
The dealer had to say that it was okay, and we the customers sounded like fools. The reason (trying to justify our buy) was zeroed down on to the fact that we only had Doordarshan. Hence it was time to get in Cable to home.
But the sound continues to be bad. We forced (and coerced) the dealer to change the speakers, which he unwillingly did, but the sound remains bad. We have resigned it to fate, and to a bad buying decision.
Now I am looking for a new TV and the brand is not going to be BPL, you bet
