The Story:
One of the highly anticipated films, Brahmastra has finally hit the theatres today. Ever since the trailer release, people have been overly excited about the film and why shouldn’t they be? The trailer left everyone in awe of the spectacular visual effects.
At its foundation, Brahmastra: Part One - Shiva is a love story, but as the powers that govern these cosmos seize control, the conflict between good and evil quickly emerges. Brahmastra is similar to playing an online game. Brahmastra, a film written and directed by Ayan Mukerji, is a heady fusion of Hindu mythology and sci-fi elements that serve as the backdrop of an, to put it mildly, a unique love story.
The Review:
Brahmastra is directed by Ayan Mukerji, known for Wake Up Sid and Yeh Jawani Hai Diwani. It will be obvious from one viewing of those movies that it is the largest movie of his career and that it sets sail for a completely new realm. A DJ named Shiva(Ranbir Kapoor) has a peculiar connection to fire and falls in love with Isha(Alia Bhatt) at first sight. As their relationship progresses, his search for the cause of this unique connection grows more intense. His visions of devastation become more distinct, and he crosses paths with Guru ji(Amitabh Bachchan), the head of the Brahmans, a hidden society of sages who harness the Brahm-Shakti, unaware that he is meant to awaken the Brahmastra. The dark force’s queen Junoon(Mouni Roy) has to locate the fragments of Brahmastra in order to carry out her terrible schemes.
The film begins as your typical, traditional guy meets girl love story, but it doesn’t waste any time setting up the real idea, which is letting Shiva go on a journey with you to discover his ultimate goal. Brahmastra’s overly complicated plot causes it to occasionally become muddled, but it quickly returns to its original course. Mukerji certainly went beyond with some elements, but happily, it never gets to the point where it starts to annoy and distract. It took him nearly eight years to complete the finished film.
Numerous famous people can be found in Brahmastra, but only in lengthy cameos. These roles are filled by actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Nagarjuna. Even if they are brief, the segments are nonetheless stunning.
Mouni Roy plays the biggest role of her career theatrically. Here, she is the bad guy. She does a decent job playing the part, which is even more impressive given that she must keep up with the greatest celebrities. She is confident, which enables her to maintain her position. The rest of the cast has sporadic but passable roles.
What works for the film:
It is a great blend of mythos and special effects. They are unique, interesting, and draw curiosity in a very compelling manner.
All-in-all:
Brahmastra is not your everyday Bollywood film. It stands firm on a grand scale with top-notch VFX that is often seen in the west. The star cast stays true in delivering a great film for people who have been waiting for the longest time for the release of this film.
The film is a planned trilogy and the first part is already so good. I definitely can’t wait for the next two parts to release.
