Sting’s latest offering ’Brand New Day’ is definately one of the best Album of the year. This Album has a classic union of beutiful lyrics and refreshing music.
The album starts off with a haunting melody ’A thouand years(5:35)’ which grows on you as you listen to it. What Follows is a aural treat ’Desert Rose(4:38)’.The song is classic example that music has no language, though half of the song is sung in Arabic(thats what I guessed) yet you never miss the spirit of the song thats probably the reason why It topped the charts all over the world.Following it is a more sedate love song ’Big lie small World(4:55)’. What follows is, my favorite, a beutifully penned fairy tale of a thief and a princess ’After the Rain Has Fallen(4:46)’ sung true to the Sting’s style. this song is especially for those who thinks that english pop is all abt. 100 piece orchestra. ’Perfect Love(5:09)’ is also heavy on Lyrics an vocals. ’Tommorow we’ll see(4:28)’ is a nice way start other side.’Fill her up(5:20)’ is nice humorous song which will bring the much needed smile on your face.’Ghost story(5:11)’ is a brilliantly sung love song with minimul use of musical instruments. This song will truly talk direct to your heart. The Album Ends with the title track ’Brand new day(5:55)’ a song which truly you can’t resist humming.Once again a very well written, fast, pacy & refreshing song which deserve nothing less than a 5 star, a fitting end to an exemplary Album.
A Must buy for any music freak and if you are into english but not into english pop this Grammy award winning album would be a as good a start as you can get.
