I am not an expert but I did learn many things on my own. try these tips and hey if anything does go wrong blame it on microsoft!
Assembled Versus Branded Computers
Here are certain things that you need to keep in mind * before * you buy a computer:
Budget(thats the biggest one)
Usage(what you indeed to use for - porn, games, work related, etc)
Maintenance(depends on your level of education relating to computers)
Number of users on it
Time frame of usage(how far do you plan to keep using it)
Broadly, these are certain parameters I can think of right now which would normally be considered before buying a computer. Now, after the budget has been decided, the time comes to make the decision - Branded or Assembled. Branded is the easier way to go, but it is one where you will have to compromise value for money and also the best possible configuration for your set budget! Assembled though a bit tougher to decide(as it involves a lot of things) does give you better value for money and easier upgrades. Now, to the best of my ability, I give you a list of pros and cons for both. Please do add on to the list.
BRANDED COMPUTERS
THE GOOD
Warranty, as per terms and conditions. It ensures longer life and service to your computer
No hassle of compatibility of hardware you are putting in.
Good performance( that is of course if the software is functional)
Normally you get a technician from where you buy the computer so go ahead and screw it up(DISCLAIMER: Dont!)
Authenticity of hardware.
THE BAD
More expensive than same configuration in assembled.
Upgrades are difficult.
Compatibility issues are there especially since you cant add any and ever hardware you want.
Tends to get outdated pretty soon(point no 3)
ASSEMBLED COMPUTERS
THE GOOD
Get any configuration you want.
Can upgrade whenever
Cheaper than branded and there are many back doors(grey stuff not recommended of course!)
If you HAVE the skill, you can maintain your own pc and look after it yourself.
THE BAD
No warranty on the computer as a whole
Technicians are a third party here
You need a basic idea to ensure that the configuration you pick out doesnt clash with others, i.e, all hardware HAS to be compatible!
On the whole, what you need is what you should get! Depending on your usage and requirements choose an assembled or branded. Go to different shops and dealers to find the best rate - and dont take anything and everything they do offer! If you are not sure about the configuration ask people you trust.
Afternote: Didnt put much into this piece, apologies!
After-afternote: Would sure like your ideas!
