Seldom, if ever, does a TV series accomplish the dramatic heights and potential of its medium and Breaking Bad is one of them. I have never been hitched to a TV show in the way I have been with Breaking Bad. What makes this show so captivating is the evolution of the main character, Walter White. Brian Cranston has done an absolute justice to the character and without any doubt I dont think anyone could have done better. This is his performance of a lifetime.
Vince Gilligan couldnt have picked a better cast for this show. The fascinating part of this show is that while watching you wont be able to predict the story pattern, the plot thickens episode after episode. The characters with their hypnotic performance, feels like as if each of them was "handcrafted" and then put right in the place for us cinema lovers.
This story reflects how a human transforms when he is caught in different circumstance. The reason to do something destructive ends up being irrelevant for the real feeling of enjoying being destructive. I have never seen a show where I have changed my feelings towards all characters from love to hate numerous times in between the 5 seasons. If you havent watched this show then you havent breathe the fresh air of true cinema.
The base of the story is that Walter White, a chemistry teacher in a public school, works two jobs to provide for his family. His life changes when he comes to know that he is diagnosed with cancer and future for his family is now insecure. This is when he makes the darkest turn of his life in desperation to help his family by teaming up with his former student, Jesse Pinkman, who is a drug dealer, to cook and sell meth. Not to forget his brother in law works for DEA and the story takes twists and turns to keep you preoccupied for 47 hours.
This is not just a TV show but it is art personified. Be prepared to sit at the edge of your seat during entire 5 engaging seasons of Breaking Bad.
