Not SO... Balle Balle

Call it Balle Balle... amritsar to LA or Bride and Prejudice, but it still fails to live up to the standards of Gurinder chaddha or the epic Pride and Prejudice, the inspiration behind this ’’let’s sing and dance’’ movie. To sum the two hour experience in a few words, it is a disappointment.

If I hadn’t been told that it’s a chaddha movie, then I might have mistaken it for a Suraj Barjatya wedding album or a long take of Ekta Kapoor’s serial minus the tears and tragedies.

The movie starts when William Darcy, the American Hero comes to Amritsar with his friend Balraj and the latters sister. They’re there for Balraj’s friends’ weding. And as fate would have it they meet pretty indian girls there. Balraj falls for Namrata Shirodkar who is looking totally off colour or been made to look like that to bring out Ash may be.

Darcy likes Ash who is shown as a too much attitude kind of girl. The miss know it all, in the movie is visible flabby. The girls who are the eldest of four sisters have a mother who is hell bent on getting them married to wealthy NRI’’s and for that doesn’t mind throwing them on boys.

God knows, which indian mother would send her 2 unmarried and eligible daughters to goa with two almost stranger boys. in goa ash meets another american, who looks a not so good guy but she can’t make out and the family doesn’t mind hosting him in their house.??????

Anyhow, there’s the comedy angle, Mr; kohli who wants to marry Ash and take her to US with her. but ’’Ms. india is the best’’ refuses. rightfully though. Kohli’s laughter is to die for.

by the interval all the strangers leave the country but within five minutes and a sad song, our heroines also land up in US. well, twists galore, ash falls for darcy. Balraj has disappeared, namrata is heartbroken. Enter third sister who wants to make her own story with Mr. not so good whom ash met in goa.

Well, I’ll leave the rest for you to watch, if you want to. But the ending as always is happy. Two daughters married to rich handsome( though balraj is not so handsome) boys. They have a song for everything in the movie and only one or two love no’s are good, rest have you looking in the pop corn pack.

Watch it if you want, it’s certainly not on my priority list though.
