Bridget does it again

I think that everyone has either read the Bridget Jones Diary, seen the film or knows someone who has.

In the follow up edge of Reason we continue where the BJ Diary leaves off.

Here we find Bridget blissfully still with Mark and living in her flat but in true Bridget style she manages to make him think that she doesn’t love him anymore after a few misunderstandings. She then thinks that he is going out with her ex-friend Rebecca who maniputates the situation to split them up so she can get her claws into him.

In this book we meet up with Shazza and Jude and all the gang we met in the first book.

Jude is still with vile Richard but it’s worse she’s marrying him now.

Shazza is hooking up with their friend Simon so Bridget is boyfriendless and unhappy.

As usual disaster follows Bridget wherever she goes and this time involves a dodgy cowboy builder called Gary who charges her seven grand to build her an extension and after she pays him three and a half grand up front he knocks a big hole in her wall and only returns to cover it with a plastic sheet.

She also goes on holiday with Shazza to Thailand and lands in jail after a drug smuggler dupes her into carying a bag containing cocaine back to England.

True to form she sings Madonna songs to the other inmates and swaps her wonderbra to avoid lesbian contact from the other prisoners but in the nick of time Mark Darcy comes to the rescue.

This is as easy to get into as the first and I managed to read it in two days.

I would love to see the movie version of this as she interviews Colin Firth who played Mark Darcy in the BJ Dairies for her flagging job at the tv studio’s she works for. I wonder how they will get round this?

In Bridget style the interview goes quite badly but it is quite lengthy and she flies to Rome to do the interview and asks silly questions like what is your favourite colour etc.

I recommend this as a must for Bridget fans as it is funnier than the first if that’s possible and a good quick easy read.

But back to the story,

What will become of Bridget and Mark? Will the be reconsiled and what about her gapping hole in the back of her apartment will Gary ever return to finish the job? And will Jude really marry vile Richard? Will Shazza find true love with Simon?

Find out for yourself in the Edge of Reason I can’t reccommend it any higher.
