BOURBON BISCUITS BY BRITANNIA

Britannia has made the Bourbon biscuit by copying the version made in England.

A Bourbon biscuit is two rectangular pieces of chocolate biscuits on either side of an oval chocolate goo which never spills out from the sides of the biscuit. There are nearly always ten holes arranged in five pairs on each outer surface. There is a sprinkling of sugar on the biscuit.

The chocolate goo or the creamy middle layer is the glue to hold the two pieces of biscuits together.

No one knows why holes have been provided on the biscuits but it could be for the flavour of the chocolate goo to permeate to the surface with the help of capillary action once the biscuit comes in contact with the human saliva or it could be merely to aid in biting through the biscuit for those people with weak jaws.

Such is the enthusiasm for Bourbon biscuits that new words have been coined to describe fans of this biscuit:-

  • BOURBONEERS - A group of bourbon eaters

  • BOURBER - A bourbon eater- Male

  • BOURBONETTE - A bourbon eater- Female

On a serious note, I enjoy eating chocolates, and have been eating Bourbon biscuits regularly and really enjoy them. Other biscuit manufacturers have introduced chocolate biscuits but none measure up to the Britannia Bourbon. Long live Bourbon biscuits.
