I recently travelled business class (BC) from Mumbai to New York (in fact I am posting this review from NY) by British Airways (BA). The last time I had travelled in BA was about 7 years ago.
As a BC passenger, I was given a special counter for check in which was good. No queue, no waiting.. After that I was given a lounge card and spent my time waiting for boarding in the lounge. This was good with a good spread of drinks and snacks and magazines to spend the time. Although this was crowded soon (didnt know that there are so many BC passengers...), they managed by diverting the traffic to other lounges..
The seats in BC were good.. Reclining to 180 degrees and one could actually sleep in a comfortable position. Only people who are below 5 feet ten inches (like me) would be comfortable. Taller people would find it hard to fit. Comfortable balnkets were provided.
Service was average even in BC. Service to whites were perceptably different than that to other races.
Choice of entertainment was good. Both audio and video systems were working well.
Food was average - I have seen much better quality of food in Jet Airways in their domestic sectors...
The lounge and other facilities in Heathrow airport were excellent. I could have a refreshing shower and a good time there.
My luggage (brand new Samsonite) arrived in a slightly damaged condition - probably due to improper handling.
Overall, I found that BA has improved in several aspects like seat comfort, punctuality and airport facilities. However, their attitude towars non-white passenger is an area that they need to really work on..
