Sensitivity to a special subject

I saw Brokeback Mountain finally. I had heard about the story very briefly and everyone said it is a ’Gay’ lovestory.

I think I have to go along 100% with Jodihayes review (in MS.com) which I think everyone should read although I read it after I saw the movie.

Anyway, I have to say this movie is a love story no matter where in the world you are and whatever gender preference it be.

The point of ’’no return’’ with love in this movie was that cold night on Brokeback Mountain for both Ennis and Jack. They were so emotionally involved and connected and comfortable with each other; that was so pure for them, even though they knew that it could not go very far.

I personally feel this kind of movie could have only been made by an Asian as they have the sensitivity towards people like these two ’’cowboys’’. An American could have never made this movie in such a sensitive manner because most Americans/Europeans are homophobic. They (’’gays’’) are now trying to come out of their closet but they are still considered outcasts. Whereas in Asia, you will find, guys, transvestites, etc, treated as humanbeings with an abnormality not to be looked down upon but have tolerance and patience towards them. Really speaking, they have a heart too!

So I feel it is an extremely well made movie and the scenic beauty of Wyoming is exquisite and the rearing of sheep is so beautiful, how they carry the ’weaker’ sheep on their horses....just superb.

For Asians who watch this movie, the only problem you might face is the southern country/western drawl and their spoken language and reference....as you might not understand, when Ennis and Jack after their first intense ’moment’; in the morning Ennis tells Jack that he is not ’’queer’’ which is a word used in the old days for ’’gay’’.

Just a little tidbit there for those who are going to see this movie, you have to really listen to them talk...and if you are a sensitive person...the emotions and expressions portrayed are enough to convey the feelings.

Hey, jodihayes I still think ’’Crash’’ deserved the Oscar Picture of 2006 and Ang Lee deserved his Best Director 2006 award.

Enjoy this movie as it is one of kind.
