I got the 500 Home combo plan connection in 2009 June in Yousufguda, Hyderabad with just 500 deposit . Finally got time to write a review on this Sunday. 500 Home combo plan features are as follows. Its a limited plan with 2.5 GB Upload, Download Limit (Night unlimited) and 175 free calls per month.
So, cost for internet works out to be 325 per month(just around 11 rs. per day)
Till now, no issue with the connection or with phone. Only concern is, the phone unit they have provided is a cheap, substandard one. Its AKRITI 06 Model from Pramod Telecom.It would be good if they provide an option of Branded phone even for some price. If phone quality and looks also matters to u, see what phone they give and demand a good phone before installation or immediately after installation even for a mere bribe of 100/- or 200. Anyhow, BSNL lineman expect and take atleast 50 in rural and 100 in urban areas and more according to customer and area.
Once, I got a problem with connection. The issue is, im able to connect to Google talk and yahoo Messenger but, Im unable to browse internet thru Internet Explorer/ Mozilla firefox/Chrome, Even though im getting initial page, when I browse further, I used to get "Page cannot be displayed Error" I got a response when I called to 1500 (BSNL Customer care)but the solution they provided didnt work out for much time.It temporarily solved the problem but it persited after rebooting. I googled and found that its problem with Virus and Bought Kasper sky Anti Virus 3 user pack for 600 and resolved the issue.
KASpERSKY ANTIVIRUS is economical if we buy 3user licence (1 year validity) ( 3user license latest price in Ameerpet, Hyderabad in April end 2010 is 550/-) and share with 2 others/other PC’s if u have, as single user license alone costs u 350/-
The following are the speed test (speedtest.net)results on a weekend(sunday morning):
Download speed :2.11 Mega bits/sec
Upload speed : 041 Mega bits/sec
5 MB mp3 download time 19 seconds
35 MB Video clip 2 min
You can expect more speed in weekdays.
