BSNL mobile service is itself a boon to all mobile users and made the other service providers like Hutch, Airtel to rethink their tariffs.
Getting a BSNL post paid connection is very easy. If you have a landline, the deposit is waived off. Goto the office of BSNL postpaid, give a photo and latest paid landline bill. The SIM is given on the spot and in 2 days time the account is activated. There is no choice of number like other service providers who give a choice of numbers to choose from. If the BSNL service is kept for 6 months then a loyalty bonus of Rs. 75/- is given i.e adjusted in the bill.
The biggest advantage of using BSNL is its PULSE billing. It uses 15 secs pulse. For e.g. If you make a local call and assuming the local call charge to be Rs. 0.80 and talk for 20 secs then the actual call charge is Rs. 0.40, calculated in 15 sec pulse. The other service providers take full charge no matter even if I talk for 5 secs or 50 secs. The network coverage is excellent barring some places like basement of a building etc. The network is more prominent in rural areas where there are more BSNL connections. Roaming facility is excellent. For e.g if I am are in kerala nad want to call a local number it charges Rs.1.50 per minute. Even STD is pulse billing
Network coverage on highways is again excellent. There are no unwanted messages coming in unlike other service providers wherein I will get welcome messages to all the new state I get into.
There is no unwanted SMS, calls from BSNL. Except for bill SMS I have never received unwanted SMSs.
I was surprised to find the way BSNL people behave with customers. The earlier perception i.e. BSNL after sales service is very bad ! is no more there. They have a 24 hrs call centre - 94480 24365 for Bangalore, which answers your queries very well. Even through website https://bangaloretelecom.com is very much informative. Even the mobile bills can be viewed, which is surprising for a govt. organisation. The all India helpline for CELLONE is 94000 24365
Regarding tariff ( https://bsnl.co.in/service/mobile_tariff.htm )its very aggressive. For e.g plan325, the local charge is Rs. 0.80(0.20 per pulse), SMS is Rs.0.40 and Landline call charges Rs. 1.20 (0.30 per pulse). STD Rs. 1.80 (0-200 kms, 0.45 per pulse) and Rs. 2.40 (>200 kms, 0.60 per pulse)

To conclude, personally I am very happy with its service. My call charges have come down. No billing disputes which usually happens with other service providers
I would recommend BSNL post paid to all...
