Like everyone else, I have had the opportunity to experinece Hutch, Airtel, Reliance, & the bsnl Cellone for mobile telephony. I could not bear the streetsmart service, quintessential indian, of Reliance for more than little over an year. Afterall Reliance is well known as the company that will focus on its profitability first more than that of other stake holders, like customers etc.
Airtel has done remarkable marketing but the service levels seems to be on the decline. Airtel strongly believes in its punjabi pedigree of i am always right, and pushes it like a policy to educate the customer about its core values. When my 12 years son wanted a phone last year, we decided in favor og Hutch-the urban brand.
But his phone has been blocked because the company wants some verification even when the valid documentation was done at the time of purchase. Probably Hutch thinks its customers are stupid and has all the time in the world to be at their beck and call. The only service provider BSNL has never let me down, takes its charges for the services rendered only.
And does not try to talk down to its customers. Yes the branding of cellone is poor, but sarkari babus cannt be expected to deliever a clearly defined brand image. My request to the telephone majors is please...please listen to your customers otherwise the churning would never end.
