I am very old user of internet and was using the netone dial up from past three or four years. I
bought my dataone connection of Plan 250 in December 2006. Actually while shifting from dial up
to broadband u can actually feel the difference, as riding a cycle and ferrari car.
The broadband speeds are just great, and I could not resist myself and over downloaded in the
initial two months, there after began to allot a daily quota and kept a check on my downloads.
Then in January 2007, BSNL upgraded the speed to upto 2 MBps, further tempting the users to
download more.
Then in september 2007 I could not resist and changed my plan from H250 to H500 which gives night
unlimited, from then everyday without alarm I wake up at 02.30 and start my PC, , keep my movies,
softwares, ebooks on download and sometimes sleep in between for an hour or so and keep a watch
on my downloads, though the speed is excellent but it varies from the website to website. Once I
downloaded a 300 MB file flat in about 30 minutes.
sometimes speed is slow and sometimes lightning blazing. Service is good, sometimes rarely I faced problems in connection, but they were not specially for me but for whole exchange and they were solved with hours, without any need of complaint.
Actually I can say that BSNL proved good for me, as I have heard from some people that they dont get any good speed at all and all those disconnection problems. As I am not living in the heart of my city the connections for my exchange would be less than those who live in main city areas. So if you live in a crowded, main city area and are not getting the expected service, delay in redressal of complaints, the excess load on server and workload on the BSNL people might be the reason. Here the BSNL people are also somewhat good in redressing the complaints.
I have heard that BSNL is also bringing plans to make broadband more and more cheaper, , already it is the cheapest and most reliable ISP in INDIA, and is really rocking the internet revolution in India.
So my final opinion is you can get a really good service depending on your location, and the BSNL officers efforts, and exchange facility, hardware etc.
