I was using Reliance netconnect , but was looking for a cheaper option as it was quite expensive. After a lot of i/net research I decided to give a shot to BSNL Data1ne.
I called up my local BSNL office @ DUM DUM , KOLKATA. I was asked to get the required documents and visit the office. when I reached office (7th Aug 2010) ; I was greeted personally by the officer @ the office gate as I was finding it hard to locate the deptt. (what a hell of a surprise ... a sarkari babu was greeting me @ the gate ..... who says miracle does not happen)
He explained all the plans to me, and I opted for 512 KBPS unlimited plan. He quickly created the work order and in 30-45 mins I was done. He even gave me the contact no of the local telephone exchange in case I need to co ordinate with them to get the line.
I thought that now I would have to wait patiently for @least a month to get the connection. I was ready.
But on Monday I got a call from the tel exchange and guess what ? they asked if they can come on Tuesday to provide the connection. (who says miracle does not happen.....). They did come on Tuesday I got the phone connection and set the BB connection as well. They informed that I would get a user id and password through SMS and once the line is activated it will be all fixed.
I got suspicious , what they mean by "Line will be activated’ ? they said it will take a couple of more days to activate the line. (I said AHAA !!!!! now I got u sarkari ppls ..... u guys will now try to fetch money from me to get it activated)
Surprise surprise !!!! ....... Friday (13th Aug 2010) I got an SMS with UID and PW. Saturday (14th Aug 2010) I got a call on my BSNL phone that my line is activated and I am all set !!! ( what the hell ...... life is full of surprises)
I immediately set up my network connection and guess what ??...... bang bang bang .. it was actually all set. My net was working as smooth as possible. I immediately did a speed test. DL speed was between 0.8 mbps - 0.6 mbps. I immediately started to d/load "Prince of persia" through torrent. It took around 3.5 hr to d/load the 1 GB movie.
Today is 27th August and so far the connection is fine and I have not faced any issue so far.
Never expected such high level of service from a GOVT AGENCY. I could not ask for more. It took only 7 days to get everything done. So far I have not faced any issue. But I will update this post as I discover new things. But SO FAR SO GOOD .....
