Having been tortured by the local cable Internet provider for quite some time, I decided to go in for BSNL Broadband. And based on the experience which I have had till now, I would definitely like to congratulate BSNL for rolling out such a fine service to the bandwidth hungry masses of India!
I did read the other Mouthshut reviews carefully before deciding to subscribe for this service. I took the BSNL Home 1000 plan (Rs 1000, 384 Kbps) in Bangalore. I had registered online earlier and was given the softcopies of the application form, brochure, end user agreement etc. I filled in the form and submitted it to the local BSNL customer service center. The process took some time as they had to get a ’demand note’ since this particular plan requires up front deposit of two months usage charges. Within 3 days, the user id and password were ready and forwarded to the local exchange. The local exchange guys were friendly and set up the time for the next day, for installation. The installation process itself was quite smooth and in less than half an hour I was all set to blaze the Internet Superhighway!
The performance of the connection has been fantastic. The speeds have been terrific and the service up time is great. Its really been much more than value for the money. Let me put it this way, I have not experienced such high speeds in India ever before. Even the shared T1/LAN based Internet at my office is slower than this!
I would fully recommend this service to any prospective subscriber.
With an overwhelming penetration into the telephone markets in India, BSNL has now the opportunity to unlock the broadband potential and launch the country into next stage of Internet and IT revolution. Kudos, BSNL - keep up the good work!
