I am a resident of Chennai and I own a Home 900 UL Plan with BSNL dateone. I wouldn’t say that the Internet service provided by BSNL is too bad for the following reasons:
Pros:
Connection speed is really good!! Most times the speed is over 220 kbps... as diagnozed by cnet.com and other websites..
Generally connects well. But at times, (when you might need the internet service you mightr not get connected!! ;) I have faced this several times..) Since my connection is unlimited, I never switch off my modem but during nights.
Cons:
If you hit a repair / someproblem with your internet service, you have will get a propt response from BSNL call center and from your exchange service personnel for internet services; but they are naive and know nothing of the computer networks. So there will be no one to help you but for vinuthomas.com ’s discussion forum to your help..
To summarize, if you are lucky, you will get a connection with few or no service problems. But still I would recommend BSNL dataone for there are any offers / TRAI charge slashes, they get applied automatically.. For one, in case of 256 kbps, you get a bandwidth upto 2 mbps these days which is marvellous..
