I am a **BSNL BBAND** user for over a year now. earlier I have tried a lot of ISPs.
i
tried Reliance , was disappointed . finally I was contented when I got
BSNL last year .
I gave a written application at the local exchange .I Purchased the modem from BSNL at cost of 1200 rupees other option is to get modem on rent for 100 rs per month. The speed was amazing I was
able to download at 35 KBps the webpage load time has reduced.
And when our plan was upgraded to 2 mbps , we got a unbelievable speed of 250 kbps , i was on plan 500 that days , in which we had free hours from 2 am to 8 am [ earlier it was hard to wake up at 2 , but I managed that with some software and made it automated to start downloading at 2 am but I still prefer waking up at 2 rather than depending on softwares ]
Upgrading to 2 Mbps on 1st of jan 07 was a dream come true . That was a amazing speed I was able to download 4 gb in one night . My u torrent was always downloading 4 or five movies from the web . I have
burned more than 200 movies from net onto DVDs [ now dvd s also have become cheap , 12 rs for DVD+ 5 for cover =17 rs for 4.4 GB Fayada ka sauda :) ]
Some times later my connection developed some problems :( what I had done was I had changed the default internet password [ which s the phone number intially ] from the bsnl site https://dataone.in
and now I wasnt able to acess internet from any of password .
I had heard about poor customer service of BSNL , now it was a time for a real encounter.
i
tried their customer care . where I get the first lesson **NEVER CALL
THEM AGAIN** . as they did nothing except directing me to local xchange .
I had two numbers of local bsnl xchange . I tried both of them but both were engaged, I kept trying, else I would have to go to exchange which was 8 km apart.
later I got why I wasnt getting a response , there s one guy who s dealing with both of phones and it was hard for him to deal , atlast my call was answered . and the guy reseted my password then I had a encouter with BSNL guys, again this time when i
called , my call was answered instantly .
The guy has considerable knowledge and he said he will call me on my mobile as I wasnt in the
same room as my computer was , and he needed me to manipulate some
entries on the computer . he called and directed me to do some of
settings . which afer done my modem was working fine.
Some of things you have to take care is about u r billing and the BSNL clock timings.
BSNL clock is excatly 7 or so minute behind IST. to get the xchange time
type this in command prompt or terminal
*telnet 10.240.144.195 13 *
it will reveal the xchange time and u can schedule your downloads accordingly.
i will recommend BSNL , it s simply awesome
