Well I am from bangalore and the IT hub of india..surprisingly it has 2 be one of the worst places fr an internet connection, bsnl sometimes takes 1 year here for a dsl connection, hathway and airtel not available everywhere, reliance and tata wimax unstable and sify overpriced...
So I was left with only EVDO as after 3 months of applying for dataone..even phone did not land up..and I am told no chance of broadband in 2009, so I had to go for evdo, now the only good things about evdo is you can get it easily and carry it and run it on laptop even without power.
As people say..being in the higher part of an apartment helps and you have to be within 1 odd km from the BTS..don’t expect anything over a 256kbps connection unless you are just in front of the BTS, I get 2.4 mbps sometimes..may be for 10 seconds in a week and the average speed is 200kbps..25kBps atmost in a month..so can’t download over 30gB..putting it for 24x7..also no torrents and p2p..as they give terrible speeds..no uploads as speed is terrible and disconnection evey few hours.enquire about the bill before time as they don’t send in time and connection is cut without notice, so pay in advance by 1week.
People who madly need internet without waiting should get it.all in all very few benefits but worth giving a try for average users, it doesn’t serve my purpose but I don have options
