We grew up watching those "Wazzzzzuuuuuuuupppp " ads brought on CDs by our cousins and friends visting Uncle SAM. And these cousins/ friends brought with them stories that had a line of reference to "Bud" like "We thought we ll catch a movie at this theater. and we were sippin on our Buds. " or " I met this hot chick at this bar. I was havin a Bud"
So, "Bud", as I grew up into an avid beer lover - to a level that I am romantically inclined to it, became this mysterious, "cool quotient adding" beverage. or more than that. And the more I thought of it, the more I wanted to try it.
The wait was long. It was salvation time, however, about a Quarter ago, when AB decided to launch its baby in India.
Bud! In India? I remember my friends exclaiming as I broke the good news to them.
D-day arrived . . Day one of the shipment . I picked up one case.
It was so cool . holding a Bud. finally. I couldnt wait to bring it to my mouth.
And as the first sip of the fizz touched my parched tongue. I went. "WTF!"
and my friends went "WTF!"
"This is it? This is all a Bud tastes like? " It was easily one of the most forgetable beers I ve ever tried. I found it all fizz with no character really. I love beers with charatcter. Kingfisher, for example will make you go "aaaaaahh. thats the stuff" in the first sip. and in the last one too.
I like Cobra too. its light and smooth. Budweiser, I feel hangs in the middle of nowhere.
All that jazz associated with Budweiser is a consequence of some genius in the ABs marketing team. Incredibly well done campaigns I must say.
The product, however, doesnt really meet the expectations.
