ROD
SAL'I'VATION @ Fifty Five East, The Grand Hyatt

Lemme take you on a Sojourn - a Gastronomic Odyssey.

We arrive at a smart podium, an Angel greets & guides us down the wooden stairs where we tip toe tip toe….tac tac tac!!

Welcomed afresh by a Black tuxedoed Magician, escorted to our table, introduces the concept - The Magical Sunday Brunch (on Haloween).

Lebanese Mezze to start, loved the Baba Ghanoush & Hummus with Pita, Zatar, breads, salads & dips.

Were offered Lime & Apple Martinis, Beer.

It was followed with Sushi - Sashimi; Wasabi & Shoyu were so dynamic to enhance the joys of savouring, so many kinds of seafood & vegetables. Nori, edible seaweed wrapped in Pearl rice, Daikon in Sake all were amalgamated so well together.

Oriental - Fried Taro, Red / Green Thai curries, Jasmine rice, Stir fry exotic veggies, Pan tossed noodles, choice of veggies, chicken, squid, eel, prawns, salmon, tuna - were so flashingly done in style.

Returned to the salads to cleanse our palate. Prawn, Norwegian Salmon, Lobster, Chicken & Caesars.

Ordered a Hand tossed Pizza, as splendid as it could be - thin crust was so crispy, fresh goat mozzarella was stringy & soft. As the Pizza was in wood fired oven, I was suggested grilled seafood, served to my table with Large Prawns, Salmon & Beckti. Then a lovely Chicken steak was also brought, just could not resist.

The Grills over, we moved to European section - Chicken Cacciatore, Corn-Cheese Balls, Au gratin, Herb Potato, Walnut Gnochhi, beautifully done Broasters. The carver was excellent in carving chicken ever so daintily.

Next round of Martinis-Watermelon & Litchi, beautiful to the last sip.

We’d Omelette, Ham, Chicken Breakfast Sausage, Saute mushroom & grill tomato. Another round of salads to rest before moving to Indian section.

The Indian section had something from each region.

Chicken Pulao, Gosht e Josh, Meen Moilee, Prawn Malai Curry, Chicken Khurchan, Mutton Chapli kabab.

Sabz biryani, Paneer Korma, Aloo Dum Kashmiri, Dal Tadka, Vegetable Kozhambu, Achari Paner Tikki.

The Pickles & Murrabbas were just fantastic as were the Papad varieies. All Tandoori bread were available, were offered 10-12 types.

Another round of Martinis came, Kiwi & Orange.

Simbly Marvellous, I have fallen in louu with these…The Kerelaite bartender was a revelation.

We slouched in the super comfy chairs by now, as if a 4 X 400 M relay was done in record time, & our gaze meandered to the other corner.

The brightest & most colorful one - Desserts invited us.

A splendid array of over 30 to choose from:

Waffles / Crepes, Plum Yeast cake, Brownies, Chocolate Sin, Carrot cake, Tiramisu, Crème Brulee’s, Melon pudding, Kiwi & Papaya Tarts, Mocca Cake, Fruit Trifle, 7-8 Exotic fruits & flavored custards, Rabdi, Gulab Jamun, Dal Halwa, Katli, Motichoor laddoo, Sandesh, Mawa burfi, Cheese cakes, Ice creams, Chocolate Mousse, there were more, I cant remember, had some sparkling wines with sweet course.

Cappuccino & Latte followed to push it all down our gullet.

It was one memorable meal I have savored in a long, long time……

Attentive stewards / stewardesses, took care of us, forthcoming to pick food for us from buffets, serving drinks, without hesitation howsoever many times we ordered. Beverages (unltd) were part of the package, ‘eat n drink as much as you can’ resulted in us gorging to our hearts content.

Clean rest rooms, beautiful ambience & smartly designed menu, complemented a perfect montage for us to return again.

Priced @ Rs 2250 + a bit steep, but worth the SAL’I’VATION.
