I’ve have build about 10 websites. Every time I build a website I find that I there is something new to learn. There are many factors that make a good website and from experience I have manage to master some of them I will assume you have never made a website and know nothing about making a website.
The first thing you need to do is get a web-building program. I suggest you get Microsoft FrontPage 2000 because it is easy to use. But if you one of those guys who like a challenge I suggest you get Dreamwaver 4, which has more tools that FrontPage.
When you got your program read the tutorial and learn how to use all of its features. When you know the basics you can make you very first website. Now that you’re a Webmaster, you should learn a thing or two about HTML. HTML is the code that allows you to see the things on the Internet.
When designing a website the best thing to do is keep it simple. Too many pictures will make your website slow and the visitor will press the back button. You should also try to be neat. If you website has too many links you should use a frame. Remember not to place too many ads. Too many ads will make your website slow. Make sure all your links work. There is nothing more annoying than a broken link.
Now that you have finished making your website you have to upload it. Getting you website on the Internet is one of the hardest things to do. The first thing you need to do is go and find an appropriate server. If your website is just a homepage you might consider a free server as the best option. Now you should go and upload ALL of the files that are in your website. When uploading MAKE SURE THAT YOUR FILES HAVE NOT SPACES IN THEM. This has to me once and I found that the files that had spaces in them didn’t work. Your front page should be name index.htm.
Congratulations, your website is up and running. Now for the next step. You have to tell people about your website. DO NOT SPAM. You should got to the search engine and submit your website to them. You should do this once a month.
If you want to make money off your website(you will not make much unless your website gets a lot of hits.) You can make more in 4 ways. The first is paid per click. When a visitor clicks on an ad in your website you get money. The second is paid per lead. When a visitor signs up for a program through you website you get paid. The third id paid per sale. When a visitor buys a product through your website you get paid. And the last is paid per hit. When a visitor enters your website your get paid.(Note: For paid per hit, if the visitor closes the pop up ad before it loads up you do not get paid.) You get paid most for sales, then leads, then clicks and then hits. The one you choose will depend on your website.
