I absolutely have no idea how I should begin commenting about something that is older than my grandfather. Well I mean it!. If you are riding anything that says Royal Enfield Bullet, let it be the 350’s or the 500’s, then you are infact riding piece of motorcycling history!. I was a person who found satisfacion in riding a Yamaha RX100 1986 model one. And yes anyone who knows that bike will know what it is used for. I used to find satisfaction in that. But things changed when I first saw the Bullet Electra 2004 parked in the showroom. The moment I saw it, it was like something that got stuck on my brain. Well those days I never had the money to buy a new one so I left my Bullet dreams to burn out and fade away.
Then one fine day, I was on my way with one of my friends to buy a pair of shoes. Well next to the shoe shop is Teknik Motors which is in Ulsoor, Banalore City. These guys are authorized dealers for Royal Enfield, and again, something pulled me into that showroom and made me ask whats the price for a Royal Enfield Bullet Electra with drum brakes on the front. ( I dont believe in disc brakes for Indian Bikes) They said Rs.77441, fair enough for something that is as big as a Bullet. They said that was the last one they had with the gear on the left side. And I was a person who believe in maintaining bikes in their stock condition. So if I am riding a Bullet I wanted to ride it the Royal Enfield way, shift gears on the right and jam the brakes on the left!!. I didnt have much time to think, I had Rs.1000 in my wallet cos I didnt like any shoes in the shop next door. I gave it to them and booked my dream.
I got the bike after 2 weeks and I was praying, that I wanted a good sounding numer for it. By god’s grace I got a sexy number KA03-EU-424. Well fair enough. Thats how I got my Bullet.
As I write this review, the bike has clocked 2378Km on the Odometer. But believe me the feeling that you get when you are riding one of these is just amazing. I makes you feel more masculine, or should I say makes you feel that you are in control. And believe me all the chiks who roam around in Kinetics, Bajaj Sunny’s, Honda Activa and so on look at you, and you may feel that you are acting in an Axe Deo commercial.
I have carefully run-in the bike. for the first 500Km 40Km/Hr was my top speen and after 500Km, 60/KM/hr was my top speed. This is going to continue till 3000Km. But let me tell you when you kick start this thing its sounds like no other, so distince, so unique. The thump from a Bullet is music to anyone who loves the bike.
As far as I can say there is nothing to beat a Bullet, because however you ride it, it is ’’Simply Owerpowering’’!!! Or else show me a bike that can beat a Bullet in India. I am not comparing others with respect to top speed, but I am comparing on comfort and handling. The new design has improved handling a lot better. The new handlebars have reduced vibration on your hands, and overall the Electra is unmistakably the most handsome lookin Bullets above all. It has got chrome only at place where there should be some chrome, and if you are a person who hates dust on your bike, well then this one’s for yo. Because the satisfaction that you get after cleaning or washing your Bullet and seeing it glitter is in the sunlight is so special.
There’s nothing more I can say about a Bullet, like the good old Bullet caption says, It takes a man to ride one
